This library is ONLY compatible with the following:

> BOSS GX-100 <

> BOSS GX-10 <

Why? Because I’ve got a GX-10. And, there you go.

It’s a great box, but this is NOT a modeler vs modeler vs profiler arms race. 

If you do not have one of the above boxes, my chains and block settings are published for each entry in The Atlas.

I don’t know how BOSS’ values map to other brands’ parameters. Use your ears.

For GX-1 Owners

The GX-1 only supports a single signal chain (vs. the dual chains that the GX series supports, which some of the Atlas’ patches take advantage of). The GX-1 does however support gapless patch switching, and spillover for effects like delays.

What this means for GX-1 owners: Build each chain out on a separate Memory (just make sure they’re next to one another – e.g. 1-1 and 1-2) and switch between them as needed. End result should be identical, EZPZ.

For Devices That Only Support Single Chains Per Patch

NOTE: Some of the patches are built around dual chains. With the exception of “Signal & Echo” and “Mysterious Way” – which are the only parallel chains – if your box doesn’t support dual chains you may be able to solve for it per the below tip.

What Do Next

Step 1:

Importing is very straight forward. When the file is downloaded, you’ll end up with a “GX-Eras Atlas.tsl” file. Put/leave it some place you’ll remember and launch the Boss Tone Studio application and click on the ‘Librarian’ icon.

Step 2:

Classic BOSS – the icons do the opposite of what you’d expect. Click the ‘Down arrow’ icon to Import. Choose ‘File’.

Step 3:

Browse to the .tsl file, select ‘Open’.

Step 4:

You should see the Library show up as a new Liveset.

A cool feature is: you can audition the patches from the Library without needing to install them on your GX box. Just make sure your GX is connected up via wire or BT, click on a patch you’d like to check out, and off you go.

Step 5:

Now let’s actually install it in your BOSS box – if you want

Two options: All of them, or just selected patches.

To install all of them:

WARNING: The Library WILL overwrite 20 User Memories, starting with the first User Memory slot: U01-1. 

1. Click the ‘UP Arrow’ to Export.

Step 6:

1. Select ‘The Eras Atlas Library’ Liveset.

2. Select your BOSS box.

3. Wait for the Export to complete.

4. Play!

Step 6.1:

For just selected patches:

Drag and drop from the Liveset to the User Memory slot(s) you’d like to install them in.

Single Chain Only Device Tip

Some devices may support single chains in a Memory/patch only, and some of the Atlas’ patches take advantage of the GX-10’s support for dual chains in a single Memory.

Fortunately! Unless the patch is built around parallel chains (in the Atlas, there are only two), you may be able to use your device’s assignable control functions to work around this.

Note: Your device needs to support mapping Control switches to parameters like ‘Amp Type’ and amp model parameters (whatever those may translate into on your particular device).

I’m going to use the ‘Across the Pond‘ patch as my example.

The patch itself is set up so the Ctrl 1 switch toggles between Chain A and Chain B.

But it’s the Easter Egg in Chain B that’s our actual trick.

The ‘base’ configuration is as displayed. The ‘Diamond Amp’ set up as shown.

But if you jump into the controller assignments, the ‘trick’ jumps right out. Using ‘Ctrl 3’, I’m able to toggle between two completely different amp configurations.

The hardware switches aren’t just for patch changing or toggling effects on and off!

In this case, I step on ‘Ctrl 3’ and I can switch between the above ‘Diamond Amp’ set up to a ‘Deluxe Combo’ amp set up shown here, and then back again.

The end result is with dual non-parallel chains? I don’t need two chains at all. I can use a single control switch to completely reconfigure a single chain on the fly, and back again.

The only real constraint will be that some of the chains include effects that can be toggled on and off independently. In those cases, you might need to decide on the desired default state that you’d want from the jump.
